Our first vacation with Luca was a success...despite a really long day at the airport for our first day. Tuesday morning we got to the airport bright and early for our 5:45a.m. flight. Our plane ended up having too much fuel due to a ground stop the day before. We had to wait while it drove up and down the runway to burn off fuel. Crazy! Needless to say we were going to miss our connection. They rebooked us on a flight that took us from Peoria to Chicago to Washington DC to Los Angeles...arriving at 11:00p.m. Not what we had in mind! We were supposed to arrive in L.A. at 10:30a.m. Long story short, we finally got to Chicago and ended up getting on a stand by flight that was delayed for several hours due to another ground stop because of a fire in the control tower. Luca was so good the whole day!! We walked around the airport alot! He fell asleep for about a half an hour. We arrived to LAX around 9:00p.m. Thankfully our bags were waiting in a room for us there. Whew!
We lost a whole day so we wasted no time on Wednesday. We headed to Hollywood to see the sign and Hollywood Blvd, Rodeo Drive, etc. We had lunch at Santa Monica beach. Luca LOVED the ocean and beach!
We made a stop at Sprinkles for a yummy cupcake.
Thursday we headed to California Adventure for the day! It was a great day. We hardly had to wait in line at all and even though it was close to 100 it didn't feel like it would have had we been in Florida! Luca loved the rides. He would say "wee" and "ooo". It was adorable.
Friday we headed back to the beach. This time we went to Ventura. It was crazy how much cooler it was just an hour or so away. It was about 75 degrees. Luca loved the ocean again.
We were so sad to leave Jay, Leah, Lacey, Callen and Tadd. We had such a great time! It was one of our best vacations. We might just have to make this an annual trip while they are out there at seminary.
