MRI and Surgery

Luca had an MRI on Monday on his brain and spine.  The doctor ordered this after he saw him at the Spina Bifida clinic.  I called today for the results and they would like me to come in the office.  I asked if that meant there was something of concern and the nurse said that it looked like his spina bifida surgery that was done in China was only cosmetic.  I'm not sure what that means exactly so we will find out Monday.  Luca did great.  He didn't have any problems coming off the anesthesia.  He was doing his Superman on the floor by the afternoon.  Ha!

Yesterday Luca has surgery on his club foot.  He did so great!!  The doctor was able to get his foot in a 90 degree angle position and hopes that he will not need further surgery.  Surgery was at 8:00a.m. and took about an hour.  He slept until 3:00p.m.  He was still pretty groggy until about 6:30p.m. then he perked up. This boy amazes me.  He had some level 3 Tylenol and some morphine during surgery but did not need any other pain medicine the whole day.  You wouldn't even know he had surgery if he didn't have the cast on.  He slept pretty well through the night considering the nurses had to come in and check his vitals every 4 hours.  He will be in a full leg cast for 4 weeks and then a shorter cast for a couple weeks.   Sponge baths for 6 weeks will be interesting!  I'm going to have to get creative.

Getting prepped for surgery and playing doctor.

Sleeping it off in his room.

Still not ready to wake up.

 Starting to feel better!

Loves making momma drink at the same time.

All ready to go home!
